SAVE THIS DATE: October 5th & 6th 2024! The Hobuck Hoedown Paddle Surf Festival is back after 20 years of history and a brief pause due to Covid. Whether you are a past participant or volunteer, or a newcomer to the sport, we invite you to join us in celebrating this exciting event. We can't wait to see you there!

2021 Festival Canceled

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 health crisis and the closure of Neah Bay and the Hobuck Beach Resort, and to protect the health of the Tribe, event competitors, and volunteers, the 2021 Hobuck Hoedown Paddle Surf Festival has been postponed until October 1st and 2nd 2022.

We were hopeful for an expression session this year however with the Delta Variant driving cases up again it is just not possible. The COVID-19 crisis has created tremendous hardship for the Makah, Makah children, and the community of Neah Bay.  The Hobuck Hoedown Paddle Surf Festival’s Board and Committee strongly urge competitors, event volunteers, and interested/able parties to support the Makah during this crisis by taking advantage of the donation opportunity below to help the tribe through this difficult period.  100% of donations will go the Makah Museum and Cultural Center in the form of an untethered donation intended to support Makah youth programs.

In the event that the Resort and the town of Neah Bay reopen to guests by 3/4 October 2020 and safety protocols allow, the Committee will invite past paddlers to a non-competitive and informal expression session over the same weekend this coming Fall.  The status of an  Expression Session scheduled for 3/4 October 2020 will be posted on this website by 15 September.

Preparations are starting

We had our first organizational meeting for the 2019 Hobuck Hoedown Event. Several exciting changes planned for this year.

Non Profit Status

We are in the process of becoming a true non profit oranization in the state of washington.

LiveHeats

We are also looking into using LiveHeats or a smiliar platform to allow us to do live scoring, judging,  heat draws, & rankings. This will be huge for us and you as a competitor as you can get realtime feedback on your standings and reduces our overall workload during the event.

Race Changes

We are looking at partnering with a local paddling legend to run a long distance coastal race that will replace our Sea kayak and SUP Scramble, stay tuned for more news on this.

The website as you can see has gotten a makeover.
